What motivated you to run for the North Dakota Legislature? (100 words max)
I am running to bring a consistent focus on policy, accountability, and results. Through my work in education, healthcare and legislative advocacy, I’ve seen first hand how decisions made in Bismarck directly impact families, local communities, and individual freedoms. Too often, important issues get sidetracked by politics rather than grounded in sound policy. I believe North Dakotans deserve thoughtful, principled, leadership that prioritizes long-term outcomes over short-term pressures. I’m motivated to ensure decisions are transparent, fiscally responsible, and rooted in protecting opportunity and liberty for current and future generations.
What personal, professional, or community experiences have best prepared you to serve as a State Legislator? (100 words max)
My background spans 22 years in the pharmaceutical industry, 8 years on the Fargo School Board, and active involvement in legislative advocacy. Professionally, I’ve worked in complex, highly regulated environments requiring data-driven decisions and accountability. On the school board, I focused on transparency, governance, and measurable outcomes. During the 2025 legislative session, I supported and analyzed policy across education, healthcare, crime & safety, and tax issues. These experiences have strengthened my ability to evaluate policy critically, engage stakeholders, and stay focused on results. These skills are essential for effective legislative service.
If elected, what would be your top three priorities for the State of North Dakota, and why? (100 words max)
First, property tax relief that creates stability and predictability for homeowners. Second, education accountability and choice so families have access to effective learning environments and resources that meet students needs. Third, protecting individual liberties while ensuring government remains limited, transparent, and focused on its core responsibilities. These priorities reflect a commitment to economic stability, strong communities, and a government that serves people effectively without overreach.
Looking ahead five years, what do you see as the most significant opportunities and challenges facing North Dakota? (100 words max)
North Dakota has strong opportunities in energy development, agricultural innovation, and workforce growth. However, challenges include workforce shortages, rising cost of living, and maintaining rural community viability. Additionally, ensuring education systems, effectively prepare students for future demands will be critical. The state must also navigate balancing growth with responsible fiscal policy. Success will depend on disciplined decision-making, investing in priorities that deliver measurable outcomes, and maintaining a policy-focused approach that supports both economic opportunity and quality of life.
Do you support the use of state funding for programs and initiatives aimed at attracting, developing, and retaining talent throughout North Dakota? Please explain. (100 words max)
The most effective way to attract and retain talent is by maintaining a strong economic foundation — low taxes, a predictable regulatory environment, and a high quality of life. State-funded programs can play a role but should not be the primary strategy. When considered, they must be targeted, transparent, and tied to clear workforce needs and measurable outcomes. The priority should be long-term policies that create an environment where individuals and businesses choose to stay and grow rather than relying on ongoing government-driven initiatives.
Do you support the use of state funding for economic development, such as incentives, tax credits, and other programs to support business retention, attraction and expansion? Please explain. (100 words max)
The most effective driver of economic growth is a stable, competitive environment - low taxes, predictable regulation, and a strong workforce. Economic development tools can play a role, but they should be used selectively and structured around clear, performance-based outcomes. Priority should be given to investments that benefit all employers, such as infrastructure and workforce development, rather than broad or ongoing incentives. Any program should be transparent, regularly evaluated, and demonstrate a clear return on investment for taxpayers.
In 2023, F-M Metro COG conducted a study of the metro area’s housing market that identified the need for 16,400 housing units across the region by 2033. What policies or tools can the Legislature use to support the development of attainable, market-rate housing in Cass County and across North Dakota? (100 words max)
The Legislature should focus on policies that increase supply and reduce barriers to development. That includes streamlining permitting, supporting local zoning flexibility, and investing in core infrastructure that enables growth. Addressing workforce shortages in construction is also critical. The priority should be market-driven solutions that create attainable housing while ensuring clear accountability and long-term value for communities.
Access to quality childcare continues to be a major concern for families and employers across the state. If elected, how would you work to expand access to affordable, high-quality childcare in North Dakota? Please explain. (100 words max)
Addressing childcare requires a balanced approach that supports providers, families, and employers. I would support solutions that reduce regulatory burdens where appropriate, expand workforce pathways for childcare providers, and encourage employer-supported childcare options.
Do you support the development of the Red River Valley Water Supply Project? Please explain. (100 words max)
Yes. A reliable and sustainable water supply is critical for long-term economic growth, public health, and community stability. The Red River Valley Water Supply Project is an important investment in regional resilience, helping address water quality and supply challenges. As with any large infrastructure project, it should be managed with strong oversight, fiscal responsibility, and transparency to ensure it delivers long-term value. Strategic infrastructure like this supports both current needs and future development.
Do you support the development of a Natural Gas Pipeline to Eastern North Dakota? Please explain. (100 words max)
Expanding access to reliable, affordable energy is essential for economic development, business growth, and quality of life. A natural gas pipeline to eastern North Dakota will support industrial expansion, stabilize energy costs, and enhance reliability for communities. At the same time, it is critical that development respects private property rights and is pursued with transparency and fairness for land owners. With thoughtful planning and accountability, this type of infrastructure can strengthen the state’s competitiveness while protecting the rights of those directly impacted.
