What motivated you to run for the West Fargo School Board? (100 words max)

I have a deep commitment to the students, teachers, administration, and classified staff.
A passion to ensure all West Fargo students have access to a high-quality education.
I believe good schools are critical to our success. They are the bedrock our society and economy are built upon.

What personal, professional, or community experiences have best prepared you to serve on the West Fargo School Board? (100 words max)

I am a retired West Fargo High School teacher and coach.
Advocating for the dedicated educators in our school system. I understand the issues that are most critical to their success. The most important factor in education isn’t computers or curriculum, it is the teacher in the classroom.

I am seeking re-election to my third term on the school board.

I serve in the North Dakota Legislature representing West Fargo’s District 13 in the House of Representatives. Serving currently in the Education Committee. This has allowed the West Fargo School District to be a leader in education policies.

If elected as a member of the West Fargo School Board, what would be your top three priorities for the school district, and why? (100 words max)

Continue to support our educators as they work to strengthen instruction in reading, math, and science. Teacher recruitment and retention of quality teachers and staff members. They have the most direct impact on student success.

Looking ahead five years, what do you see as the most important opportunities and challenges facing the school district? (100 words max)

Opportunities: The West Fargo School Districts to focus on personalized learning for our high school students. It will increase engagement, motivation, and improved academic outcomes.
The expansion of workforce trading programs that support innovative educational initiatives that prepare students for high-demand careers, benefiting both local communities and the states economy.

Challenges: Continued rapid growth of the West Fargo School District.
Teacher recruitment and retention. Teachers need to feel valued, supported, and appreciated.

How would you approach balancing investment in academic programs and facilities with the district’s long-term financial sustainability? (100 words max)

West Fargo Public Schools works to empower students to think critically, communicate effectively and achieve academic proficiency, preparing them for college or careers. I will work to ensure that West Fargo Public Schools focuses on accommodating its rapid growth. Ensuring that newer schools and older facilities are balanced through strategic investments.
