David Clemens

NORTH DAKOTA SENATE DISTRICT 16

  • Past chairman of District 16, served in the ND Senate for eight years, Army Vietnam Veteran and business owner.

  • A return to basic fundamental education, working on ways to address behavioral health and reduce or eliminate residential property tax.

  • Maintaining our oil and gas production, reducing property taxes, limiting the growth of state government and reducing or eliminating government regulations.

  • While there may be some programs to retain workforce, I would prefer reducing regulations in order to have a favorable business climate which in turn will benefit the workforce. Allow businesses to create their own incentives to retain workers.

  • I sometimes think we have gone too far in allowing tax credits for new businesses and that may be shifting the tax burden to the average resident.

  • I oppose the continued growth of state government and would rather reduce taxes, which would then help people afford their own childcare. Promote business, create jobs.

  • We should be looking ahead and help fund project that will be needed for our residents. However, I do not favor state spending that would compete against private enterprise.

  • The Lagacy Fund belongs to the people of North Dakota so I am not opposed to using some funds to benefit our citizens. However, the fund needs to be allowed to grow so it is available for future generations in the event the state has shortfalls.

  • I do not favor the complete elimination of property tax, but certainly favor substantial reduction of residential property tax, especially for the non-working elderly.
