Clint Rossland

Moorhead School Board Candidate

I am married and a parent of two students in the Moorhead Schools at the middle and high school. I have lived in Moorhead for the past 12 years and am a proud supporter of our school district. Working as a Health Systems Engineer at Sanford Health, I’m focused on continuous improvement within complex systems. I also teach engineering courses at NDSU as an adjunct faculty member. I serve as a volunteer in different capacities in the schools, at NDSU, and in our church.

Q&A with Clint:

  • I’m running for school board as a way to continue my commitment to the school district. I’ve served on many volunteer task force groups as a parent/citizen and I believe my analytical mindset, problem solving skills, and ability to connect with people would be beneficial additions to the school board. I will listen to understand our needs and make common sense decisions. Our family has benefited from the tremendous teachers and enriching activities the district provides, and we’re proud to call ourselves Spuds!

  • My education and work experiences allow me to see the big picture, but also understand how the details contribute to the best outcomes. I began serving the district in 2014 with a master facilities task force. I continued in groups focused on the new middle school, curriculum development, deciding to build a new high school, career academy pathways, and strategic planning for the district. In 2019, I led the “Vote Yes” committee to pass the bond referendum to build our new high school. These experiences have allowed me to develop relationships and have fueled my passion for Moorhead Schools.

  • What motivates me to run for school board is my passion to see all students get a great education and do what I can to support them. I have no particular issues with how our district is currently operating and am not motivated by political movements. My goal is to unite our community--I will be an unwavering advocate for our school district and will use my skills to help the district continue our positive momentum and solve problems as they arise. We have tremendous opportunities with the new Career Academy to continue to build upon.

  • Moorhead is continuing to grow and the need for additional teachers and staff will also continue to grow. I believe one of our biggest opportunities is to position ourselves as a district-of-choice to recruit a strong talent pool and retain the great staff we have. I also believe we have some ground to make up regarding test scores after two challenging years of the pandemic. If we can analyze the data to find our greatest needs and develop sound strategies, we can help our students get the knowledge and skills they need to improve test scores.

  • My vision for Moorhead Area Public Schools is to be a safe place where all students are welcomed, taught, and encouraged to achieve their highest potential. The Career Academy will serve as a regional focal point, partnering with the local business community and helping students develop skills for life-long careers.
