Hamida Dakane

north dakota House of representatives District 10

  • I have served one term in the House, and have a background in community service. I earned my degree in Public Administration from University of Mary and Emergency Management and University Studies at NDSU

    • Affordable, accessible childcare

    • Workforce solutions

    • Supporting public education

  • We face challenges in economic diversification, workforce retention, and infrastructure development. To tackle these issues, I would promote small business growth, enhance education for essential skills, and invest in sustainable infrastructure.

  • Yes, investing in workforce development is essential for economic growth and stability. By providing resources for training, education, and support services, states can address skill gaps and meet demands of local and regional industries.

  • Yes. When we attract new businesses to North Dakota, we broaden our tax base and diversify our economy. We also create jobs by supporting our employers in that way.

  • We can implement policies that promote funding, zoning reforms, and developer incentives. We can allocate resources for childcare programs and other tax credits to families. We can also incentivize housing regulations and better childcare standards.

  • Yes. State funding is crucial for these projects, and major infrastructure must be kept up-to-date. We have a massive Legacy Fund that can help alleviate these expensive projects from our municipalities. State funding of localized infrastructure projects is collaborative in nature.

  • Strategic is the key word. We can't use the Legacy Fund as a blank check for any project, but we need to think strategically and effectively when using our Legacy Fund as a funding source for projects and initiatives. They have to be worth the expense.

  • I oppose the current ballot measure but agree that families are overburdened. We can do more as a state to alleviate the burden of property taxes for our hardworking families.
