Q&A with Lillian:
-
I’m seeking this position for family, the future, and our freedom. I’m running to help move us forward, bringing our minds together to craft a better future for our young people and those who choose to make North Dakota home. Our children and grandchildren deserve a future that reflects our collective past of hard work and the fruit it yields. I believe in protecting the working folks that make this state a great place to live. I’m also running to protect and defend the rights of women and families to choose what is best for their health and security.

I know what it’s like to build something effective from virtually nothing. I raised my girls as a single mother in a small town. Living in a rural community, you wear many hats, including as a First Responder and advocate. I’ve served as an independent consultant for programs aimed at protecting and engaging youth, community, and project development. I am an experienced consultant and board member for entities that include Pathfinder Parent Center; the ND Women’s Network; the ND Human Rights Coalition and even taught a course on Tribal Court Advocacy at the National Judicial College in Reno, NV. My background is broad and rather miraculous. I know that I am the right person to represent so many.

Childcare is the biggest need for the households, as 37% of the homes in the district have young children. Access to affordable healthcare is another critical issue that runs parallel to the right to privacy in healthcare decisions, including the right to abortion. Property tax relief is a continual concern for the homeowners in the district.

Accessible, affordable child and healthcare; raising teacher pay; and protecting the right to privacy in healthcare for women and families..

I would advocate for small business grants and loans to open daycare centers and hire trained staff so parents can get to work. I would also advocate for job creation through the implementation of sustainable systems for energy and food production that will withstand extreme weather conditions. Workforce Safety is primary when it comes to protecting productivity and keeping people safe from harm and ensuring they receive appropriate services when hurt on the job. I would seek out members of the legislature to join me in this endeavor. I'd also push to raise the state's minimum wage to reflect the current cost of living.

I support quality of life and promote the revitalization of depressed neighborhoods; investment in education and green energy innovation. The FMWF area is the Silicon Valley of the Midwest, rife with technology, and home to global and regional talent. Climate readiness is a factor that can't be ignored, and I support the expansion of development into public transit in our often-harsh region. If we move toward the future, we become a magnate for talent and families.
