  • Michael Coachman, a U.S. Air Force veteran and returning candidate for state office, announced Tuesday he is running for governor as an independent.

    Coachman served as a city council member in Lairamore for the last 8 years and has long aspirations for a higher office. He ran for lieutenant governor in 2012 and 2016, and secretary of state in 2018. In 2020, he ran against Gov. Doug Burgum in the Republican primary for the governorship.

    His policy priorities are inspired by the state constitution and the Bible. He has a broad, diverse set of political goals, with an emphasis on restoring individual liberties in all aspects of life.
