Q&A with Ryan:

  • I am running for the Senate position because I believe there needs an individual that will listen to the people of North Dakota. I want to advocate for the individuals that can't advocate for themselves, ensuring all individuals can live the best life possible. I want to create a North Dakota that is full of diverse ideas, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations and religious beliefs.

  • As a leader of the North Dakota Community planning group, I worked with the State Health Department determine how funds should be allocated for HIV/AID's prevention and care. My education in social work has prepared me for the needs of human beings and the struggles that they encounter. Finally, my background working in the healthcare products space I understand the business side of human needs.

  • Rising living costs/rents. Since district 10 is largely rental units the cost of rent hurts my constituents most. As an elected official I will look into the funding and rules around rental assistance programs ensuring it is helping the most individuals. I also want to ensure that we are maximizing incentive programs to ensure developers are creating spaces for low-income/workforce housing.

  • Rising rents, Behavioral health access, and protecting human rights.

  • One of the biggest challenges for workforce issues is attracting individuals to the State of North Dakota. We need to ensure that we have the resources available for people to move here. These include access to affordable childcare, affordable rents, and ensuring we are paying our workers a living wage. As a state we need to make sure we are fully funding childcare programs, rental assistance programs and raising the minimum wage.

  • I support programs that help small businesses expand within the region. I support improvements to our transit programs to improve the accessibility across the community for individuals that do not drive. I oppose programs that provide assistance to large corporations that do not pay a living wage. I oppose TIF/Renaissance zones that do not create good paying jobs and/or low income/workforce housing.
