Tammy Miller is North Dakota through and through. Raised near the small town of Brocket, Tammy has lived the values of hard work, community, self-reliance and perseverance. Her first job was working in her family store where she learned to do whatever job needed to be done, regardless of if it was cleaning the toilet or defending the store from robbers.

After completing her undergraduate degree in accounting at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), she earned her CPA licensing. She joined the growing team at Border States Electric as their account manager and earned her MBA from MSUM taking night classes.

Tammy remained dedicated to Border States and worked her way through the ranks, being named CEO in 2006. Over the next 14 years she led the company to new heights – creating thousands of jobs along the way and helping thousands of employee-owners live the American Dream.

She believes in treating taxpayers like customers and making sure every tax dollar stretches as far as possible. Since becoming North Dakota’s Lt. Governor, Tammy has partnered with Governor Doug Burgum to transform state government, eliminate government waste, and drive innovation to keep North Dakota’s economy booming!

Tammy has been married to her husband, Craig, for over 30 years.
